i just ran 9 miles in 1 hour, 32 minutes, and 15 seconds.

im pretty sure i feel accomplished... but mainly i feel pain.

ughh

this has been the worst running week ever.

saturday: started running 5 miles and rolled my ankle almost immediately. FAhhhhkKK

so i decided not to run sunday.

monday i swam.

i tried to run tuesday. pain ensued. i made it 2 miles.

wednesday i swam.

had the intentions of running 8 miles on thursday.

wednesday night i hurt my knee. my right knee does this weird thing VERY rarely. if i sit indian style and somehow shift my weight onto my right side, my knee locks in place. i literally cannot unbend my leg from that position unless i force it/pop it out. IT HURTS. a lot.

so today, thursday, instead of running 8 miles, i am carefully bending/unbending my leg.

goddammit. goddammit. goddammit.

one of my swimmers... an 11 year old boy... who BEAT me handily in my weston 5k race thing that i blogged about in may/june asked me the funniest question today...

"how are you going to run a 1/2 marathon if you can't even finish a 5k?"

7 miles

wooooo halfway thereeeeee

in no particular order of importance

1. we are doing SO much better at blogging

2. i have no thoughts on gel... never tried it. i need to start working things like that into my runs. honestly, ive not been drinking any water/g2/gel/etc during any of my runs... that i need to start doing.

3. so 7 miles didnt feel bad. true. then i tried to run 3 yesterday and it turns out IT FUCKING HURTS after running 7 the day before. UGHHHHHH... so i finished a painful 3 and am taking the day off. i have 5 miles tomorrow then another off day saturday. HOLLER.

4. i think i pulled my groin. awesome. so now i have to massage myself there. often. like in public.

I just did 7, too!

I had planned to do 5, but I felt good so I kept going. Too bad in my head I was convinced I was closer to 8 miles. Haaaaaa.

7.1 miles in 1 hour 22 minutes. Can you say SLOOOWWWWWW? Me too, that's my mantra :-) It may have been a little less (very little) if I had stopped my watch every time I got caught at a light in the city, but who has time to do that?

I had "Oh my darling, oh my darling, oh my darling clementine" stuck in my head for the first mile. I have NO idea why. I did NOT enjoy it. Also EVERY person that was running on the Mall passed me. Even children. Whatever--I'm pretty happy because this is the longest run I have EVER done in my entire life. And like you said--it wasn't too bad! I'll probably eat my words tomorrow when I can't move.

I'm thinking about taking one of those power gel things w/me on runs longer than 6 miles. I was getting nauseous, probably bc I ran right after work at 6:30 and hadn't eaten since lunch. Thoughts on the power goop?

oh yeah... i ran 4.2 miles with court... we slightly overslept the point in which we needed to rise n shine to run 7 miles... not enough hours in my pre-work day.

courtney could have DEFINTELY run the 7 with me :)

i just ran 7 miles... really wasnt that hard actually. pleasant surprise

congrats to mrs. turco for finishing her 1/2!!! shes totally my new motivation now too :)

ko-- i just take the 4 distances im supposed to run within the week and do them when i can-- i dont do them in order. we're in the same cycle... no worries :)

i need to shower. and take a nap. and eat. and stretch A LOT more.

schedule?

5.1 miles last night! And I'm not sore this morning--weird.

I think I may be on a different schedule from you... I thought this week was 4 5 5 6? which is kind of what you had, but backwards... anyway. I'm shooting to do 6 tomorrow. I wish Court were here to run part of it with me!

Did you know Mrs. Turco is running a half marathon this weekend? She was my inspiration for my last few runs :-)

Off to the farmer's market for some delicious bounty! Hooray for it not being 32490234098% humidity anymore! Bring on Fall!

i did manage to finish out the week from hell... 6, 5, 5, 4 miles. id rather do one long one and 3 shorter runs... turns out i have no problem running around 4 miles, but after that, im hurting more.

next week is 7, 5, 4, 3. LOVE THAT. im doing the 7 mile run tomorrow morning... court is here tonight so shes going to run part of it with me :) thanks court!!!

MOTIVATION!

Today I realized that I need to get my butt in gear and start running. I ran 4 miles in 44 minutes--yesssss 11 minute miles :-) I actually felt pretty good, but I can already tell my thighs are going to be super sore. I ran a 4 mile loop from the climbing gym and tried to do a couple routes afterwards--that was hilarious. I definitely didn't have the energy :-) This was my longest run since coming back from Europe!

I'm going to try to do 6 miles this weekend. I will probably have to stop, but I need to start cranking up the mileage!

I miss you too! But I will see you in 3 weeks! woo!
