Actually I just got back to my apartment after a glorious night. On my way home from work I couldn't decide on running or climbing for my evening plans, so I decided to do both. I ran the 5.2 miles to Sportrock, immediately ate 2 cupcakes that were up for grabs, then (pathetically) bouldered for an hour. I took metro home then ran the 0.8 miles back to my apartment for a cool down.
So! In summary:
distance: 5.2 miles
time: 53 minutes (told you, I have only one speed)
homeless men (sans/avec shirt): 0
cupcakes: 2
tunes: This American Life (yes, the NPR show with Ira Glass)
There you have it: Ira Glass is my secret weapon in my constant battle with being bored on longer runs. As long as it's not a terribly depressing episode, I practically forget that I hate running :-). If you're interested in giving this a try, let me recommend "Plan B," a recent episode that pretty much encompasses everything I love about the show. You can also download the goods on itunes.
